Undying Trend Of Bohemian

Trends never die, they just go out of sight, behind closed doors. This is one of my many beliefs in fashion and I still stand by it. If given a word to define my style then it definitely won’t be “trendy” because I am the worst person when it comes to getting over trends. I am like a clingy girlfriend who takes her own little time in moving on. Okay, that made no sense.

What is bohemian? Unconventional? Hippie? Breaking norms? It has a lot of definitions. And honestly, all of it makes some sense but not a whole lot of it. However, in the past two years it has been established as everything “fusion” and that is my biggest concern. Let me put this across in very simple words- Fusion is NOT always bohemian and vice versa. Wearing silver/ethnic jewellery with your not-so-ethnic clothes does not make you bohemian.

Boho chic, experimental, breaking rules, unconventional, arsty, rebellious- These are a few common key words used for when you talk about the fashion of Bohemian. But the fun fact is that all of it started from a bunch of people who were considered to be bohemian, not because of their fashion or the clothes they wore, but because of their off beat lifestyle, unconventional thought-process and artistic lives. The bohemian fashion was inspired by these people and the lifestyle they led.

Bohemian for me is a trend that does not give a flying hoot about fashion. Wherein you’re left free to wear anything, where you drape yourself with anything that is anti fashion. And this, exactly, is the reason why the trend of bohemian is undying. Anti-fashion is the new fashion and bohemian, is just that. bohemia.jpg
